RIP: Super sad fucking news today – Singer, Artist, and friend of Aliens Dave Brockie has left this chaotic earth for us humans to deal with without him. His roommate found him dead Sunday in his room. Details are not yet known on immediate cause of death as reported elsewhere but I’m sure we’ll know more as the week unfolds. His twitter personality the Real Oderus made that place not as boring as it could be at times. He was the lead “throat-thing” of the most dangerous band on the planet and spawned GWAR from his own alien space semen in Antartica. Even though Mr. Brockie was originaly from Ottawa, Canada he created a live experience not replicated ever before. If getting covered in space gue seems like a good time. He was also very keen to exploit human sense of moronic comedy and appeared on FOX News and other talks shows promoting his band with a dedication and “Undying” need to be the ultimate lord and master of Earth. He was much respected around the globe too metal and punks bands to mention. Municipal Waste drummer and Richmond Virginia resident Dave Witte had this to say on his facebook page this morning “I can’t believe it, I’m shocked. Dave Brockie was like a Superhero in my eyes. An icon of the arts. Creative, passionate, dedicated…one of the coolest and hardest working people I’ve ever met. I learned quite a bit from him and he was always really nice. I don’t know what else to say, what a shame. RIP Dave Brockie.” We could not agree more.

ALBUM REVIEW: If you love slow mulching(tm) post noise rock you need to get your cranium close to our words and make some room for this release from Cincinnati’sPhratry Records latest. Tyranny Is Tyranny is from Madison, WI and their release Let It Come From Whom It May provides politico asylum worthy themes. We are all prisoners of capitalism because you exist in the system – lets agree there to start. These guys make music with song titles like “Down The K-Hole” and “The American Dream Is A Lie” which are our generation’s problems which are really world domination problems. Keep them numb and dumb; Jello biafra rants perhaps these are not (thankfully) but more with feeling of the gun in mouth blues Neurosis may have given you or Rollins for that matter. Although Hank has accepted his Celebrity and surviving. So in this version of rock history like a lot of non-independently wealthy bands these days they rely on the listeners to help them make crowd funded vinyl versions to help spread their gospel. So you know it’s not just a digital thing. Here’s the very “arty” behind the scenes album promo to give you some flavor of a band laboring to make a record straight to lab-top. Which sounds damn good in our humble opinion, clean and if the band Raven wondered what they sounded like if they were bit indie this would be what we would playback for them. Revisionism and capitalism all wrapped up into one band.
MUSIC REVIEW: Self titled 6 song EP by Black Wing Halo. We’re big fans of anything that can punk you into submission to get all you grungers and metalers in the mood to crush some heads. Distorted guitars made out of sharp shovels used to pummel you into the ground and burry you. Yeah that was a sentence. We’re partial to the deeper cuts on this EP like “Wish” and “Rats” which reminds us of Ministry off of Land of Rape and Honey with all the snare-drum action and guitars. If you are a TAR or COWS fan the punk influence for amp rep fans will also dig this. A good entry point is the 90’s grunge metal fest of “Bite My Lip”. The 2nd track is actually the most metally tune which we’re giving to you right here. Shaved Dice wins for funniest title. I imagined the one’s hanging from my rearview mirror but then realized that is actually a thing for gaming folks in the streets trying to make a buck off of tourists. ALBUM REVIEW: Gaythiest – Holy thrashing power ballad metal I might wonder if this band was created by bear loving lawyers or a small fleet of Navy destroyers. If distorted bass, fast beats, your vocals a little below Geddy Lee’s range almost gang style but definitely singing is your thing. Stealth Beats might just album you’ll need in fast moving vehicle to keep up with the mother fucker racing you in their 18 wheeler semi who is doing trucker crank. Now you might not partake in that nasty shit but you would challenge their notion of metal. Brought to you by the fine folks at good to die records. In summary if you need a pump of adrenalin mixed with the need to race down the highway in your muscle car then the Gaytheist’s Stealth Beats might be the thing that will allow you to own your next Mosh Pit encounter.

Human collective behaviors at concerts vary considerably with social context.
