Fuck you #Sandy the #frankenstorm. To hell with everybody who keeps ignoring global warming issues in politics and not trying to reduce your global footprint somehow. We’re all guilty of this in many ways. I hope we survive this natural disaster and it does not become some apocalyptic scene. Anyway here’s a playlist of a bunch of songs about inclement weather, rain, sleet, floods and snow to help you brave this situation.
Playlist for badweather:
01. Smells Like Rain MP3 by Unsane from Occupational Hazard (1998) When i think of storms and chaos sometimes i think of the walls of guitar gutter these guys create.
02. Raincoat’s Room MP3 by Swell Maps from Jane From Occupied Europe (1980) An instrumental jam that sets up mood. Amazing record all around of an indie guitar sound that has not changed much since.
03. Rain Test MP3 by Aviso’Hara from Our Lady of the Highway (2001) A slow jam with best line from a movie. “Give me the strength to die well” Name that movie!?
04. Date With The Rain MP3 by Frankie Gee from Groove Merchant Turns 20 compilation. This is a funky one. We’re not just noise blog here. We like the funk the boogie.
05. Seven Seas MP3 by Echo and The Bunnymen from Ocean Rain (1984) This originally came out while I was in freaking just in Highschool but it’s such a stand-up album all the way . Great live band too.
06. Thunderstorm MP3 by the original Buzzkill from their first full length CD release I feel like myself again This is dirgy punk. “This is a stormy Monday and everyday after that!” Good mosh-part at the end.
07. Rain MP3 by Bongwater from Double Bummer CD on Shimmy Disc (1988) Is this really a cover written by John Lennon & Paul McCartney? I just know this is one of my favorite NYC bands from the 1980s. Period.
08. Pouring Rain MP3 by Fishbone from Truth & Soul (1988) This is one of their slow soul jams that really shows how this band could groove. Also another amazing live band that I saw about 8x I think in their heyday. Still awesome now. So check them out. Nobody makes music like Angelo and his boys.
09. The Waves MP3 by The Draymin from their new one Should’ve Known Better (2012) This is particular tune is very alternative grunge. Nice acoustic song with great singing. Check them out.
10. Rain Bird MP3 by Love & Rockets from Earth * Sun * Moon (1987) There is used to be this dark band called Bauhaus. this is an off-shoot of that. The music was always ethereal, dark and inspired. File under #Goth
11. Behold The Hurricane MP3 by The Horrible Crowes from Elsie (2011) Would be almost impossible for this band not to sound like the Gaslight Anthem no matter what Brian Fallon does. Good songs on this record.
Space indie rock. Even though they’ve been doing for less than a year Grounded sometime remind us of Sonic Youth. While emo-esque at times that does not stop you from listening to their tunes alla you black emperor and trail of dead a whee bit too. Anyway, go get their EP. It’s cool man
MUSIC REVIEW: Males from London, England play some pretty heavy sludgy shit. In the vain of Queens of the Stone Age, Big Business, Karp and Hawkwind. For a fuzzy trio they sound pretty huge and fuzzy and we think you should check them out. Really not much trickery other than these are very big riffs by Mr. Goldstone on guitar, Mr. Young on Vocals and Drums backed up by Mr. Ben Smith on bass. So we encourage you to bang your head >>here<<. That is it. Simple really.
Get some metal

03. At A Crawl MP3 by Melvins from 10 Songs 2 track CD on C/Z (1996)
04. Dead Men Tell No Tales MP3 by Motorhead

Romneys one point tax plan and his idea that women should be kept in binders sort of sums up perfectly what the GOP is backing right now. What is right for America and what Obama and the democrats have planned will be reviewed over and over even after the election and the winner is declared. At the End of the day it’s about who is lying least and who can make the best decisions for the good ole’ USA or who has been kicking ass on a war on terror we allegedly didn’t start. Seems straight forward to me but the spins are so obnoxious and condescending it’s retarded (no offense to retards) but you will do what you are going to do. In the end It’s all about gaining votes for the targeted balances that are part of the undecided. Shit these are those same assholes who stand in line in Starbucks and don’t know what they want when it’s their turn. Anyway, these folks barely matter since the electoral college decides as our Forefathers knew that the general population is too fucking stupid anyway and not educated to make important. They sort of count on it. These swings states we keep hearing about is what really matters right now to secure the better path. What is laughable to me personally is millionaire wannabees (these are some of my neighbors living in same small house as yours and mine) who actually think the GOP is about them and their values. Suckers, there are different rules for those that help write the rules so best to be on the side of the greater good. Anyway. Here’s some political songs and songs about women. Obama’s closing with the 47% bit is like GBV doing Game of Pricks as the encore. Well played Commander in Chief!
Wether you want to believe or you are forced to believe ghosts may be real. People like to think that this is not it. Meaning there is something in-between life and death. We won’t know though until the end and we don’t want to be caught there. Here’s some songs about ghosts for this months Halloween theme. Enjoy!
This great epic soundscape music. If you are a fan of The The or other such ambient mysterious music you will love this remix by Post War Years from their coming EP called The Bell. This track is good for just looping it a few time at your next faux dj sprockets dance party. Pretty upbeat as far as gothy tunes go. The video is warped and beautiful. The metal creatures in it are very playful.
If you dig this you’ll love this old stuff: Never Let Me Down Again (Aggro Mix) MP3 by Depeche Mode from Music For The Masses (1987) Wise Up! Sucker [12″ Youth Mix] MP3 by Pop Will Eat Itself (1988)
Once you check out these songs you will notice not much has changed in the genre since it began. All the same makes it just as enjoyable when you are in the mood. Except for maybe the video quality is better. 🙂
Don’t forget to stalk the RS blog back on facebook and the twitters.
MUSIC REVIEW: Do you like Lux Interior inspired garage psycho-billy? We think Majestico has got some threads a little loose in this Rolling Stones inspired meets pico de gallo wax on this new 7″ EP called Love is God. It’s not a Mardi Gras band from the looks of it or a purest roots rock band but it is out today on Jeffery Drag Records. Is this “folk ‘n’ roll”? We think there is more of a creepy roll here that is just getting the weed going a bit. This is the bearded skunky variety perhaps with some shiny specs of brilliance. Music for garage rock fans who like a show with their acid or acid in their blues show. This stuff will last like trails and you will want to come back for the weird. If anything try and figure out how they convinced a Mayan to appear in their video. Give it a whirl and get away from that lame electronic shit. This is a real rock show.

Dear friends of Review Stalker land,
Here’s the new Eastern Anchors single called “James The Viking” for your listening pleasure. This song is dedicated with love to EA’s friend, James Elias Hulsizer who past this recent winter. The band asks that you make a donation to the SPCA to honor James’ honor who loved animals, meat and beer. monmouthcountyspca.org. There is a B side called “I’d Spend Everyday Like This” which you can get on the band’s bandcamp page where you can name your own price. The B-side is not on their forth coming album Drunken Arts and Pure Science on Viva! La’Hara Records. The illustration is a likeness drawn by comic book artist Cliff Galbraith who founded the Asbury Park Comic Con happening this coming weekend Sept 29th.
Sounds sorta like these sounds man: Triumph of Venus MP3 by Torche from Meanderthal (2009) Peeled Out Too Late MP3 by Chavez from Gone Glimmering (1995) There’s No Here MP3 by Dinosaur Jr from The Farm (2009) If I Told You MP3 by Hüsker Dü from New Day Rising (1985) The Pod MP3 by Hum from You’d Prefer An Astronaut (1995)
DOCUMENTARY: I remember a much healthier looking Grant Hart and it seems this film by Gorman Blanchard “Everything Everything” going to show the darkside judging from very ominous looking Kickstarter trailer. It was the year 2000 or so when I met Grant in Athens GA at the 40 Watt on tour with my old band Aviso’Hara. He was doing a one man show and his guitar tour in a cadillac. Working to make back tax money I think he owed from all his huskers money that he never claimed. Being a wild man throwing beer cans into the audience. Yelling at them for requesting Hüsker Dü songs that he did not write or people not getting into it. I don’t know, when methadone is your sober friend I’m not sure you ever wake up from the cloud of “you fucked up” with that stark trip.
Ralph Singer/ Guitarist from Aviso'Hara & Grant Hart
Bob Mould gave the man lots of props in his Autobiography for truly writing some steller songs. His voice is that of an angel lets not forget his gifts. But lets be clear he’s a much prettier singer than Mr. Mould. But what do you really know when you think you’re on dope. Anyway here’s wishing him a blues masters recovery and comeback one day.
If there’s one thing that I can’t explain
Is why the world has to have so much pain
With all the ways of communicating
We can’t get in touch with who we’re hating

For fun here’s a new tune by that other Minneapolis rocker. My Road Now MP3 by Paul Westerberg -2012
SINGLE REVIEW: Look straight into the camera and say “Neuroin”. This new single by Midnight Spin has nothing to do with science or molecular biology that we can tell. This is well engineered rock-n-roll that is fast, furious and focused on making you fist pump at least one time. The bass does most of the lifting here ripping with that SVT hollowed analog sound. Better than The Strokes song’s ever did with support of lots of down-strokes on the guitars (yes we’re aware of the pun). This tune is sure to be a live panty dropper if we ever heard one so we suggest you check them out live. We like this band’s sense of humor ever since their funny video for “Trigger Finger Itch” that had a delinquent bunny from last year that caught our limited attention span. So there. Enjoy!
