ALBUM REVIEW: Gustave Tigers – At The Idylls End starts off with a art school spoke Azalia Snail self titled diatribe which I tuned out on at first. Then the music quickly picks up the pace in what this Budapest band calls cathedral punk. Which is very fast, sharp like steak knifes and fitting like a casket demolotion derby (whatever that is). You how young bands have a energy and bounce to thir music because they might not know better? This music is perfectly dissedent in ways only their music can explain because I’m not fluent in Hungarian. Seems to be mostly female fronted vocal and by all accounts pro-feminist jesus fuckers. This noise goes by at a blisteirng pace and most evident in the star spangled rant called Clitoris Crucifix clocking in at :40 seconds giving Pussy Riot a lesson in song crafting. There are 14 tunes on here in total and not a dull moment to found. Noisy, dreamy, psychedelic with just enough of a vocal hook to remind you that you don’t need a keyboard to make good music. A bunch of delays and reverb but none the less Szurcsik Erika on vocals, Dorozsmai Gergő Guitar and vocals, Mezősi Péter drums and Szabó Csaba bass and vocals make a nice mess of things. You shall name your price on their bandcamp page although we give you a MP3 here for free courtesy of the band. Check them out facehookers but not sure it’s all in english. The name of the band is Gustave Tiger. This is their 2nd album and it’s sonic, dissident-pop in all the right angular hard to reach places, much hipper bands pretend to be but never are.

Lots of heavy as shit singles and bands to watch for you today on review stalker. Keep things coming and know that we do listen and share things first on our soundcloud.
To start check out the A-side off this new 7″ from this noisy band from Queens called Dead Waves. Recorded in one take with Mr. Albini – just how he likes it. This tune has got enough stomach churning distortion to make your seizures and morning shakes feel like a good thing. PRF crew alert here this is right up your melvins encrusted alley.
EXCLUSIVE DOWNLOAD: “Oracles of the Grave” MP3 by Dead Waves
Next up is Weird Womb from NY and the A-side “Pale Piss” from their 7″ ep Ruined by the 90’s recorded at Vanancy nyc. Tighter than mudhoney with Henry Rollins style singing. Maybe a little more on the Guy Picciotto style in the vocal department when i think about all the tracks. This is more punk than 90’s grunge in southern California Wasted Youth kind of way. You can order the 7″ WEIRDWOMB.COM.
Check out the grinding grunge off of the Bay Area’s post-punks Street Eaters. Here’s a track from their upcoming release Blood::Muscles::Bones on Nervous Intent Records. The 1st track reverse tracks from this coming record starts off like Hüsker Dü’s Dreams Reoccurring off of Zen Arcade then it goes strongly forward. Female fronted vocals which reminds us of Amanda Black Wine(Don Giovani).
On tour now doing all of North America so be brave and indulge yourself and check them out live they will be on the East Coast in July! Full date listing on streeteaters.com
MP3 Bonus:Dreams Reoccurring by Hüsker Dü
These next guys called Hive Bent – reminds me of a version of Battles meets No Age. Really all there is to say. Check them out pretty big sounds for what sounds like drums and super sonically heavily distored bass. Sure to break a bass string near you or at least your punk hymen. Whatever comes first.
Follow us on Twitters and be sure to share the love you facehookers on the button link below. Thanks!

ALBUM REVIEW: I am starting to wonder what is in the water now that all global warming is melting all the snow in Canada because the rock-n-roll that is starting to come down by the likes of Champion Lover is getting meaner and darker. The Toronto based noise punks have their scopes set on getting you fucked-up a lot which we’re totally fine with being that we’re in New Jersey and our home state’s super hero is The Toxic Avenger. This is a monster sized caliber release with jagged distortion episodes that manage to get inside your worst dreams. At other times pretty trippy power psyche(yea we said this) where the bassiness will make your bad day get worse. Pounding you with the opener “Read my Mind” and wipe off the blood with “She Likes Wu-Tang”; these are the real champions on this debut. The last track “Vacant Heart (Spring Break)” is what we can only imagine is a bad trip gone completely sour. So put your head in the barrel on their bandcamp to dose yourself. You might not need drugs listening to them because they are drug rock and will make you scrape your face-off.

MUSIC REVIEW: LA’s Hudson’s(The Band) new release Into The Unknown is a rocknrolla Americana trip with some of your favorite classic rock moves. On this EP you’ll find citar sounds, beatles harmonies and billy gibbons blues stomps. These guys are pro-musicians and we don’t mean that in a derogatory sense as they can actually play their instruments. Which is a rarity and more than likely due to their commitment to doing residency shows which is paying off in beer tabs. We would say on par with the likes of the bluesmen in The Sadies which is a high compliment around these parts.. We love when the slide guitar is implemented right in your face because if you are going to commit to it. Do it all the way right in your face to the point where women and children are holding their ears. Their tune “Jezebel” has some bonham/John Paul Jones nod at the end and the title track “In the Unknown” is where you might want to save the children first. Check them out and let them take in their RV around much of the good music on one release. They really are owning this American Rock-n-Roll thing. If you are a fan of Jack White, Black Crowes and ZZ Top then you’ll more than likely wanna grab some icey PBR’s and tap the dashboard in your pick-up with these guys at your next tail-gate party. You can own the EP June 2nd on iTunes.

GoPro Chronicals: So much fun was had at this years New York/New Jersey Muderrella event. Here’s the video I edited and put together within 24hrs of the mudfes. There were 5 miles of obstacle, tutus, and team Comradery at the fest. Was a marathon to say the least running around the course catching all the action without falling on my ass or loosing a show in the sticky mud. Every group took off down the motocross field every hour after a little warm-up. 1,000’s of people running amuck (haha) through the course. Everybody we captured on film genuinely seemed to be having a great time and showed their spirit animals. I would of loved to have a drone to capture more overhead shorts but maybe next year right?
Music in this video by The Joy Formidable and a song called “whirring” from their amazing album THE BIG ROAR (2011). I hope they don’t get to mad but I think it really captures the energy of these tough mudders and we hope it brings some notice to some of the Muderella organization’s partners Futures without violence and refuge.
Here’s the group of ladies that were in the first wave. I finally caught up with them on the CRUSH IT slide at the last obstacle before the finish line.

Sex Scheme – “Feel Me” – We’ve gone all dark and goth blues on you fuckheads. Actually you’re all fuck-heads because this music is your punishment by the group known as Sex Scheme. We don’t know much except their drummer wrote all this “music”. You can order this 7″ for $5.00 from their bandcamp page which is four songs that bleed into each other with such stellar deft. You should be whipped because with songs like “Dog Slut” and “Eat It” how could you go wrong? Seriously, do you need to know anything because if you do I might need to stab you.
DOWNLOAD MP3: Feel Me by Sex Scheme
Dead – from France VERSE’ EP is hybrid punk and just the smallest bit of electronic bullshit we’ll allow to stream through our ears and on the RS blog. Music for vampires probably. Who cares its pure hot lava that will eat right through your soul and doesn’t sound anything like Gerry Garcia because that would be weird. Blast this.
BARROWS – RED GIANT
Barrows – How metal instrumental are you? If you like the deafheaven but without the annoying screaming then you will dig Los Angeles instrumental rock quartet Barrows tune “Red Giant”. Lots of grinding bass and lead guitar hammering. Head bang at will and download this jem.
DOWNLOAD MP3: Red Giant by Barrows
De Duiven – DU – Probably one of the weirder videos we’ve seen in a long time. No hot german chick here for sure but there is a blonde rolling a keg around. Not sure why. This is akin to– Fucking hell if I know. Even when you thought it could be possible to be less wordy than “Da Da Da” by trio. You’ll just have to watch and take our word for it. Dream pop gone wrong. What in the Benny Hill? Does not even begin to justify the next four minutes. We’ll say this. De Duiven has more integrity than “What would the fox say” and that is a giant compliment. Like the facebooks for more german art school humour.

The Color of Noise – Third Man Record is going to premier the film by writer/director Eric Robel May 30th 2014 in Tennessee. The film has been in the works for over the past few years. In this documentary Robel interviews all of the bands that were on Tom Hazelmeyer’s record label Amphetamine Reptile Records(AMREP). These were mostly the bands that made the 1990’s notorious in a few small cirlces of fanzine, artists and record geek’s worlds like myself. Most of these bands never went on to do anything else except be on tour but one thing was certain they were all part of a gang that appreciated the same aesthetic sonically. There were many and I can say that The Research and Development picture disc series was an example of somebody with vision. Every 7″ was something you might find in a very twisted S&M gallery. Many underground artists before basement shows were a huge thing that you may have ever heard. Tom (HAZE XLL) had it under control and gladly put things out there in the hopes of grabbing your attention even if he never really was able to “cash-in”. DOPE-GUNS’N FUCKING IN THE STREETS 7″ compilation EP series was another of my favorite comps from this era of noise rock. You got a great bang for your buck. usually four bands and zero complaints. One’s you might have heard of like Mudhoney and rest were there laying to waste your turn-table for the afternoon. In this series there was always a simple illustration right smack in the middle of the custom typography were items like a used condom, needle or vibrator. All these Bands were part of this world that bands like Helmet and the Cows played. These were my go to bands to see play live at CBGB’s and other parts of NJ and NYC. If I didn’t know about them Tom made sure that 50 of us did so music by Tar, Janitor Joe, Unsane or Hammerhead had a small but loyal audiencee. A club within a club of punk because this music was not necessarily as popular as Nirvana got to be or would it ever become. It was dangerous and the poster Artwork for the show alone made it intriguing with guys like Derek Hess, Coop and Kozik. Album art produced by Hazelmeyer made the point clear this was something unique and a one time thing. You should proceed with caution while you blow your ear-drums out and annoy your neighbors but this is something that won’t ever be replicated – a close facsimile maybe. This type of music was an under appreciated sub-genre of grunge because what happened to grunge was a obmination compared to what it really was. Here’s the evidence.

Finally the punk rock pseudo-punk Craig Evanhalen, a self-proclaimed “enigmatic genius” and leader of BANANAZZZ brings you into his version of reality. Not the life the rest of you posers live in. Incendiary (maybe) and semi limply heroic film is ready to put his spam all over the world. The 32 minute short film documents his world. The way he sees it and fights the injustices. In the end he even proves his parents wrong and erases the past fuck-ups by making it to SXSW. Yeah! SXSW fuckers! Can you believe it? That fucking music festival won’t just feature anybody. Talk about a total sell-out of a festival. Why tween boy bands like CUL8R find more success than him is beyond our comprehension. But we know he should and could have all of Vivivan’s Girls if he wanted them. Just like that. All New Brunswick millenials should know the myth and know why even gay boy band management wish they had a piece of him. Watch the film and find out before he does or brooklyn vegan does. Why he should just go goth before the 90s stop being the next big thing the youth is recylcing over and over again.
He’s Craig Evanhalen and he’s gonna change the fucking world.
His band has a bunch New Brunswick scensters in it who know they hop to ride his train to fame. It’s an idea long overdue not seen since Suburbia or any Dick Rude film for that matter.
BANANAZZZ.
The music below is not on the soundtrack but it’s actually good and should have been. And yes these are real band that we discover all the time. There is more music like this on our soundcloud fucking page.
SEMI FEMI
FAT GOTH
WHITE REAPER
BUCK KNIFE
THIS IS NOT OBITS
– This is actually a 4-track recording from 1984 by Kids For Cash, Sohrab’s high school hardcore band from ye olde fault. Which should clue you into the fact that the 80’s are way cooler than 00′ or 10’s will ever be.

Honestly, I think I could tell you only one band that played Coachella this Spring Break and it was The Replacements who got a lot of cash to play songs from the 90’s. I can’t imagine one kid under 40 30 knew a single tune unless they brought their parents with them. I know this because my friend Andy posted a photo of them. He was actually working the event bringing grilled cheeses to the masses (probably) working 14 hour days having fun watching all the “space cadets”.
I totally had forgotten about this music festival and since I’m a real music fans I was just waiting to find my domestic break during the day so I could race to the nearest record store on Record Store Day. Sorry your loss kids but I don’t think you care about collecting records at all. I’m pretty sure CHVCHRES had a select release and bunch of other groups playing the event but none of them will own a physical copy. Their cool friends who actually like music might though. Twitter also reminded me of all the fun. I saw lots of ass photos (#ASSCHELLA) on the Vice blog called Noisy and useless articles about what people were wearing or not wearing, the different type of freaks, bro gangs and what the bitches were going to see. I have no idea who Haim is and apparently Pharrell is still wearing the same dumb hat even in that 96 degree heat.
I kind of liked it when all those kids went down to Florida or Mexico and they didn’t really make a mess of music festivals. Drank the light beer and twerked before it was a thing. The line-ups are all over the place and not that I’m organizing freak with my sub-genres or anything but Coachella is a mess of a “music festival”. I am glad nobody died like at SXSW this past year in Austin (that I heard of) smashing their car drunk into people –that was horrible. The masses of suckers going to these bloated events pay the really high-ticket prices more than likely because their parents forked over the dough. Not sure anybody noticed but the cost of entry goes up every year even as it’s off set by brands buying their way into the youth market. But alas this is some college kid’s Woodstock or Lollapalooza except they mostly listen to EDM (Electronic Dance Music). I totally have a problem with EDM. Hate me but there are no lyrics to most of the tunes right? It’s fabricated music unlike classic hip-hop which I have the most respect for. You’ll never be able tell me I really love it when they click play during that part and mix in this other part and we all jump up and down. You know with the keyboard thing? Impossible to describe and I suppose something you must experience completely live as you jump to the thumping in unison. Unlike if I say two simple words like “Jane Says” –You will probably sing the whole song from start to finish. See what I mean?

I love T&A hanging out of frayed denim shorts as much as the next straight guy but music needs substance. At the same time I know the general youth consumer needs to be entertained. Millennials get bored way to quickly these days. Truth be told through lies; it’s more fun to watch them make asses of them themselves from the side because that tattoo they got will need to be covered one day and I hear they have better drugs that we did in the 90’s. Hell even Burning Man has it’s own zip code(89412)! The more you know.

420: Here’s a bunch of songs about pot. So much great music has been inspired by the Weed and on the weed it’s hard to imagine that the shit is slowly being legalized finally and the government has finally figured out the business of marijuana and that they could tax it like the alcohol and cigarettes to get them out the debt. For a while that is until they fuck it up again and spend their take. Remember the war on drags? What the hell happened to that Gestapo? The really scary part is all the conversations behind the scenes Big Tobacco companies having. Preparing themselves for this day and negotiating with the government on how they can make it work for them — their end of the deal. So we’ll see what happens in the coming years once we’re over the medicinal hump in most of the States. I’m in no way an expert. Anyway, the drug was once vilified and was seen as a harbinger of evil, sex and gluttony. If you’re too high don’t drive. In some cases marijuana is supposed to help people with their some pain, anxieties and as medicinal cancer treatment. So seriously can’t be that bad. You can even make clothing out of the pot. We know we can’t hang with the chronic at all because that stuff has crystals and will make us barf but either way for some other people it’s their beer and we’re ok with that. Life is too boring not to get high on something. To celebrate 420 here’s some songs about pot you may never of heard of before. Please suggest some other songs in the comments below.
